Many people believe that your complexion is based on your diet and how clean you keep your face. These are obviously factors into your overall health and therefor the health and appearance of your skin but there is another component that a new study shows we may be ignoring. If you live in a big city or somewhere with a lot of pollution, this may be the reason your complexion could be suffering.
A large scale study that included women from Germany and China has demonstrated a link between levels of traffic-related air pollution and air pollution-associated gases with the formation of dark spots on the skin, known as lentigenes. The most pronounced changes were observed on the cheeks of Asian women over the age of 50.
