Here at Jon ‘Ric Medical Spa & Wellness Center in Charlotte we like to keep our clients in the know about happening events in the Charlotte area. Come out and support our local up and coming young actors as they put on a show for your enjoyment! This is a great opportunity for our youth to become involved in the acting community and get their first taste of the lime light.
The second annual Young Actor’s Symposium, an event that offers middle and high school actors in Charlotte and beyond an extraordinary opportunity to meet and learn from theatre and film professionals throughout the Southeast, New York and Los Angeles, will be hosted by Northwest School of the Arts (NWSA) on Saturday, January 17 and Sunday, January 18, 2015. The symposium offers middle and high school students a chance to meet with casting directors, talent agents, and theater and film directors and producers. Attendees pay a modest fee for various discussions/panels/workshops offered by these professionals. Numerous workshops will be offered on topics such as the business of acting, the do’s and don’ts of auditioning, dancing for the stage, and taking the UGH out of Shakespeare. Also included are workshops for creative students who are more interested in behind the scenes opportunities, such as film making, editing and special effects. Several sessions are open to parents as well. In addition, students can have head shots taken by NWSA student photographers. For more detailed information and to register, visit www.nwsatag.com and click on The Young Actor’s Symposium. Enrollment is limited, so register early to ensure a spot. The fundraiser is sponsored by NWSA’s Theatre Arts Guild. All proceeds will go toward uplifting the school’s LaBorde Theatre, which is in need of new equipment, seating and flooring. * * * Northwest School of the Arts is an arts magnet school in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools, serving grades 6-12. Using a hands-on approach and “learning by doing,” students are taught the arts by both full-time professional teachers certified in their arts disciplines and area and national professionals who teach master classes throughout the academic year. The Northwest School of the Arts Theatre Arts Guild supports and enhances the education program of the school’s middle school and high school Theater Arts Department.
